Reface alternative: use any video, not templates

If you like Reface but want to use your own clip instead of one from its collection, BeMainStar is built for that. You pick any 5 to 30 second video from your Photos, take one selfie, and the app recasts the person in it with you, keeping the moves, camera and sound. You can add up to 3 friends. Reface is the better pick if you want a big library of ready-made trends plus photo tools like hairstyles and AI avatars. BeMainStar does video only and needs a subscription to start.

Why BeMainStar: BeMainStar starts from the video you already have, not from a list someone else picked.

The clip comes from your own Photos, not a template list.

Why people look for a Reface alternative

Reface is one of the biggest face swap apps: about 496,000 ratings on the US App Store, averaging 4.8, as of October 2026. Its listing describes putting your face into trending videos and stills by picking from its collection, plus many photo tools.

In 778 one and two star App Store reviews of 11 AI video and face swap apps that we read in October 2026, the most common complaints were about billing and credits, then a smaller but clear group: people who wanted to use their own video, or who said the clip from the ad was not in the app. That second group is who this page is for.

What BeMainStar does differently

  • Your clip. The source is any video in your Photos, trimmed to 5 to 30 seconds.
  • The whole scene stays. Same moves, same camera, same sound. You become the person in it.
  • Friends. Up to 4 people in one video, at the same Star cost as one.
  • No watermark on what you save.

Where Reface is the better choice

  • You want ready-made trends and do not have a clip in mind.
  • You also want photo features: hairstyles, avatars, baby generator. BeMainStar has none of these.

The honest part about price

Both apps use in-app purchases. BeMainStar is not a way around paying: a subscription is needed to start: Weekly is $4.99 with 5 Stars each week, Yearly is $89.99 with 8 Stars each month. 1 Star is 1 second of video, and Star packs of 5, 12 or 25 Stars top you up. Prices vary by country. If a video fails, your Stars come back.
